Q

Explain the Stages of Mitosis

A
  1. Chromosomes are present in the nucleus.
  2. Chromosomes double and form identical chromatids. The nuclear membrane breaks down.
  3. Chromatids line up at the equator of the cell. Spindle fibres form.
  4. Spindle fibres pull apart chromatids to opposite sides of the cell
5.New nuclei form and cell membrane splits and two identical daughter cells form.

Q

Examples of Specialised Cells

A

Nerve cell- Sends electrical impulses, long body to send message faster.

Sperm Cell- Swims to fertilise egg, tail helps movement.

Red Blood cell- Carries oxygen around the body, biconcave shape= large surface area.
