A

The belief that Kings were chosen by gods and that the gods would give them powers. If something went wrong, it was a sign that the gods no longer wanted the king to rule

Mandate of Heaven

A

Created by Zhou dynasty.
One ruler of China, the ruler had the blessing of the gods and the gods would give them powers and if something(such as invasions, earthquakes, and droughts) happened wrongs, then it was a sign that the kings had lost the mandate.

Babylonians: A wife could leave her husband if he was cruel but could not divorce him
Ancient Egypt: Everybody was treated equal under the law except slaves

The mandate of Heaven was that the ruler had the blessing of the gods. Some civilizations did not use this or had a central government. Hebrews were monotheistic. Vedas(Indus civilization) believed in stages of life and reincarnation.
