Plot of The Iliad (Books 1–17)
The Iliad begins with Achilleus’ rage after Agamemnon takes Briseis. The Greeks struggle without Achilleus, and Patroklos enters battle in his armor. Patroklos fights bravely but is killed by Hektor, setting up Achilleus’ return.
Who is Achilleus?
Greatest Greek warrior, withdraws due to insult, returns after Patroklos’ death.

Development of Achilleus (Books 1–17)
Achilleus begins prideful and wrathful, refusing to fight over Agamemnon’s insult. He withdraws, only showing concern for Patroklos. After Patroklos’ death, his grief and rage push him to seek vengeance, marking his transformation.
