shoulder girdle joints
glenohumeral
acromioclavicular
sternoclavicular
palpation of suprasternal notch
on either side, the medial ends of the clavicle project above the line of the manubrium
palpation of coracoid process
move laterally medial third of clavicle is convex palpable 2.5cm (1inch) below the junction of the outer and middle 1/3 of the clavicle
lateral end of clavicle vertical indentation above the glenohumeral joint
palpation of acromion process
- spine of scapula → acromial angle → lateral border of acromion
vertebral level of inferior angle of scapula
T7
Palpation of sterno-clavicular joint
palpable lateral corner manubrium / curved line concave laterally / approx 1cm length / extending 0.5 cm inferolaterally (in standing lies at the level of spinous process of T3)
palpation of acromio-clavicular joint
palpable, immediately lateral to the anterior concavity at the lateral one-third of the clavicle, approximately 1.5 cm medial to the lateral border of the acromion process
palpation of glenohumeral joint
represented by a line drawn from a point just lateral to the tip of the coracoid process 3.75cm (1.5 inches) long, concave laterally and directed towards the axilla. The lower 2/3 denotes the rim of the glenoid cavity.
