U3 AOS 2 CH3H Felix Flashcards
-lean management(n.)=
-lean management(n.)=the [process] of [systematically reducing waste] in [all areas] of a [business’s operations system] whilst simultaneously [improving customer value.]
Lean management=eliminating waste= so customers get the most value with fewer resources.
-Pull(n.)=
-Pull(n.)=production of the good or service [only starting] when a [customer places an order.] (The customer order ‘pulls’ at the production system with their demand)
-One-piece flow(n.)=
-One-piece flow(n.)=involves the [operation process] [focusing on one good or service] at a time.
One-piece flow is a lean
management strategy
that involves processing
a product individually
through a stage of
production and passing
it onto the next stage
of production before
processing the next
product, continuing this
process throughout all
stages of production.
-takt(n.)=
-takt(n.)=[rhythm], whereby [all the steps in the production] of the good or service are [synchronised] to create a [‘continuous flow’.]
Takt is a lean
management strategy that
involves synchronising
the steps of a business’s
operations system to meet
customer demand.
-zero defects(n.)=
-zero defects(n.)=[striving for perfection] by [continuously improving] until the operations process [achieve zero defects.]
Continuous improvement process(n.)=
(you don’t need to know this, but it goes with pull, one-piece flow, takt, and zero defects.)
Continuous improvement, sometimes called continual improvement, is the [ongoing improvement of products, services or processes] through [incremental] and [breakthrough] [improvements.]
Lean management Strengths
+Increased efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of processes.
+Lower the cost of production
+Improves customer satisfaction
+Reduced wastage
+Lean management makes things better for the employee as they concentrate only on the things that matter to the end customer. This will in turn improve employee satisfaction
+Improves business reputation.
Lean management Limitations
-Requires a cultural shift and training to identify added value and reconfigure production or service processes.(going to take a lot of time and energy)
-Requires continuous improvement mentality to achieve zero defects.(going to take a lot of time and energy)
or
-Going to require training for employees for them to be able to identify the unecessary feature on produe and of ways to achieve aero defects, costing the bsuiness money.
-Going to require employess to constantly have continous improvements mentality to achieve zero defects, taking alot of effort and energy of employees, possibly decreasing their effiiciency.
