What is termination(n.)

When do Australian’s retire
When might an employee retire?=
:Australia= legally retire at any age
:Retirement= normally associated with older workers
:retirement can include young workers who no longer need to work
What is retirement(n.)
Retirement(n.)= involves an individual deciding to leave the workforce permanently as they no longer wish to work.1An employee may choose to retire because they have earned enough money over the course of their life to support themselves or they are too old to continue working.2
What factors cause people to retire
For most people, retirement comes to a couple of factors including=

:Your qualifying age for the age pension(presently 66 years and 6 months, will increase to 67 years in July 2023)
Voluntary redundancy
:voluntary redundancy=(knowing you have to reduce the size of the workforce) Ask people if they would like to be made redundant(takes away the fear and resentment when choosing people to be made redundant)
What is redundancy(n.)
redundancy(n.)=Redundancy involves an employee no longer working for a business because there is insufficient work or their job no longer exists. This can be either voluntary or involuntary.1
Involuntary redundance
:involuntary redundancy=(If business closes down entirely or no one choses to be voluntarily made redundant) Pick certain people or whole workforce to be made redundant.
What is resignation(n.)
resignation(n.)=Resignation involves an employee voluntarily terminating their own employment, usually to take another job position elsewhere.1
Rules with resignation
:A period of notice needs to be given to the employer(gives people time to recruit someone for position)(internal recruitment, or external recruitment)
What is an exit interview

Dismissal(n.)= involves the involuntary termination of an employee who fails to meet required work standards or displays unacceptable or unlawful behaviour.2
What are transition considerations
Transition considerations are social and ethical practices that a manager can consider implementing when terminating employment.
A manager can assist employees during the termination process by:
* offering resume writing or interview training to employees to improve their employability.
* providing networking support for employees in the form of contacts that they can use to gain future employment.
* providing flexible working hours that allow employees to attend interviews at other businesses.
* introducing counselling and financial services to ease the uncertainty of leaving the business.
* holding celebrations and providing recognition of the achievements of employees who are leaving the business.
* slowly reducing the working hours of retiring employees to help them adjust to a change in their lifestyle.

What is Entitlement considerations
Entitlement considerations are legal obligations an employer owes to its employees following the termination of their employment contract.
Entitlement considerations:
:Annual or long service leave=Any annual leave or accumulated long service leave must be paid out to an employee upon the termination of their contract.
:Redundancy pay=When an employee is made redundant, they are often entitled to financial compensation from the business for the termination of their employment. The size of this redundancy pay will be higher for employees who have worked at the business for a longer period of time. Redundancy pay is not usually paid to employees hired for less than 12 months.
:Notice of termination=There must be sufficient notice for any redundancies and dismissals to provide the employee with time to prepare for their loss of employment.
:Justifiable reasons for employment termination=An employer must provide valid reasons for the redundancy or dismissal of an employee for it to be considered lawful. For redundancies, valid reasons include store closure, relocation overseas, or the introduction of technology. For dismissals, valid reasons include poor employee performance or a serious breach of contract.
Annual leave(n.)=Annual leave is paid time off that is provided to an employee when they are not working. Businesses can only provide employees with a limited amount of annual leave each year.
Long service leave(n.)=Long service leave is an extended period of paid leave that is granted to an employee after a sustained period of work at a business.
