Transformational
Most researched and best outcome type of leader. Inspirational leaders that appeal to noble motives like justice, moral and peace
4 I’s of transformational leader
Idealized influence; Emphasize trust, empathy and importance of commitment and purpose
Inspirational motivation; articulate appealing abstract vision of the future
Intellectual stimulation; Question old assumptions/beliefs; stimulate new ways of doing things
Individualized consideration;’ consider individual needs, actively listen and advise.
Transactional leadership
Leaders show followers how they can meet goals. Social contracts. 3 types;
- Contingent; setting up transaction, establish rewards
- Management by exception - active: Monitor behaviour and anticipate problems, correcting actions
- Management by exception - passive; act when problems occur, put out the fire
Laissez Faire and ethical leadership
LF: Lowest type, leaders provide little guidence
Ethical; Leader as moral manager, demonstrates normatively appropriate conduct through personal actions etc. Promotes two-way communication, reinforcement and is positively ass with trust in leader. (Based on social-cognitive theory)
Criticism regarding transformational leadership.
Multi-dimensional conceptualization of transform. doesn’t specify how the factors form transform. leadership
Currenct operationalization confounds leadership with it’s effects; circular reasoning

Charismatic leadership theory
Many versions of the notion that charisma is related to leadership. Closely related to transformational
Coordination
Coordinated action is one of the basic abilities for leadership. Influencing individuals and groups towards set goals.
In athlete’s, there are formal roles within a team: prescribed or awarded roles.
Measuring leadership
Round robin assessment: the way you view your team members regarding density (leadership perception) and centralization (directed toward amount of people)
