Cable Operated Exposure Device (Cable-drive)
A
Capsule: is attached to a pigtail (includes a locking ball, Teleflex cable and a connector).
Operation:
Source is projected to the end of guide tube using a drive cable and crank.

Pneumatically Operated Exposure Device (Air-Drive)
A
Capsule: not attached to any cables, just a dummy source.
Operation: Source is projected to end of an attached guide tube using a pneumatic pump and drive tube.

Inspection prior to operating a Cable-drive exposure device
A
- verify radiation levels around device walls
- inspect female pigtail connector (use GO NOGO gauge)
- inspect ancillary equipment (guide tube, drive cable, connectors, nuts + screws, locking mechanism)

A
- verify radiation levels around device walls
- inspect ancillary equipment (guide tube, drive tube, connectors, nozzle)
- extend drive and source guide to full length while connected together and pump to ensure clear tubes
- disconnect tubes, insert a dummy source capsule, project to ensure free movement.
