prostatitis ( as co-trmoxazole)

this medication inhibits folate synthesis by bacterial
can be used in gram neg and positive
inhibits folate synthesis making them bactercidial

caution/contraindicated?

A

1st trimester of pregnancy - associated with increased fetal abnormalities risk
those with folate deficiency
those who are immunocompromised e.g. HIV, elderly
renal impairment
