Training Flashcards
Periodisation
Dividing the training year into specific sections for a specific purpose
Marcrocycle
Long term planning phase. Has three different periods
The preparation period involves general conditioning and the development of fitness levels
Preparation period
The preparation period involves general conditioning and the development of fitness levels
The competition period
This is where the performer refines skills and techniques as well as maintaining fitness level
The transition period
This is the rest and recover restage. This phase allows the athlete to recharge physically and mentally and insures an injury free start to the forthcoming season
The mesocycle
This is usually a 4 to 8 week period of training with a particular focus such as developing some kind of fitness such as muscular strength
Micro cycle
This is planning for a week or a few days on individual training session this is repeated throughout the length of a Mesocycle
Tapering
Reducing the volume and or intensity of training prior to competition
Peaking
Planning and organising training so a performer is at their peak both physically and mentally for major competition
Continuous training
Involves training with low intensity exercise for a long period of time without rushed into those such as jogging swimming and cycling
Fartlek training
The place of the run is very distressed both the aerobic energy system due to its continuous nature and anaerobic energy system through the high-intensity Bust of exercise
Interval training
It is a form of training in which pairs of intervals of high intensity of work followed by periods of rest. Interval training is predominantly used by the athletes to improve anerobic power
Circuit training
The athlete performs a series of exercise a set of stations it is important to decide on the number situation the number of the amount of time spent at each station and the length of the rest in between.
Weight training
This involves doing a series of resistance exercise through the use of free weights of fixed weight machines which tend to describe in terms of Satz. Can we use for everyone to develop muscle strength. There are four different groups shoulders and arms trunk and back legs and an all over body exercise
PNF training
A form of passive stretching where the stretch position is hard by something and then the agonist muscle e.g. a partner or a wall
