What are the two glands in the skin?
Sebaceous glands and sweat glands
What are eccrine glands?
Simple tube-shaped sweat glands, mainly in the palms of hands and the feet. The function is to regulate body temperature
What are Apocrine glands?
The glands that body odour arises from, through bacterial decomposition
What is Basal cell carcinoma?
A slow-growing skin cancer usually forms polyps and rarely metastasizes
What is squamous cell carcinoma?
A rapidly growing skin cancer, cells tend to keratinize and metastasis is uncommon
What is melanoma?
Skin cancer formed from melanocytes and is highly malignant. Sunburn increases the risk
What is Actinic keratosis?
A precancerous condition resulting from over-exposure to sunlight

What is seborrhea?
A skin condition caused by excessive secretions, which gives the skin an oily appearance.
What is Acne Vulgaris?
Results from the increased glandular activity at puberty, when the sebaceous glands enlarge and become more productive. Lesion are most common on the head and neck.
What are some drugs used to treat acne?
Differin - adapalene
BenzaClin - clindamycin + benzoyl peroxide
Retin-A - tretinoin
Tazorac - tazarotene

Masses of infected follicles with deeper penetration than furuncles.

A chronic dermatologic disorder that results in red raised areas of skin.
