What is a communicable disease
Can be spread from organism to organism between animals and people.
What are communicable disease caused by
Bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi
What are communicable diseases often referred to as
Contagious or infectious diseases
What are some examples of communicable diseases
Measles and malaria
What are non communicable diseases
Cannot be spread between organisms.
How long do noncommunicable diseases last for
Generally last for a long time and get worse slowly
Examples of noncommunicable diseases
Asthma, cancer and coronary heart disease
What makes the body have an increased risk from communicable diseases
Problems with the immune system because their body is less likely to be able to defend itself against the pathogen
What can trigger some cancers
An infection by certain viruses
E.g hepatitis virus can cause long term infections in the liver and lead to increased chances of liver cancer
Hpv can lead to cervical cancer in women
What can trigger allergic reactions
Immune system reactions in the body caused by infection by a pathogen
What can trigger depression
When someone is suffering from severe physical health problems particularly if they have an impact on a persons ability to carry out everyday activities or if they affect the persons life expectancy
