Topic 1 - Animal and Plant cells Flashcards
In which cell is there a nucleus?
Both animal and plant cells
In which cell is there cytoplasm?
Both animal and plant cells
In which cell is there chloroplasts?
Only in plant cells
In which cell is there a cell membrane?
Both animal and plant cells
In which cell is there mitochondria?
Both animal and plant cells
In which cell is there a cell wall?
Only in animal cells
In which cell is there a permanent vacuole?
Only in a plant cell
In which cell is there ribosomes?
Both animal and plant cells
In which cell is there chlorophyll?
Only in plant cells
In which cell is there cellulose?
Only in plant cells
What does the nucleus do?
Controls the cell’s activities
What does cytoplasm do?
It is a liquid gel in which the organelles are suspended and where many chemical reactions take place.
What does a cell membrane do?
It controls the movement of substances such as glucose and mineral ions into the cell and other substances such as urea and hormones out of the cells
What does mitochondria do?
Where energy is transferred during aerobic respiration
What do ribosomes do?
Where protein synthesis takes place
What does the cell wall do?
Gives support to the cell
What do chloroplasts do?
They contain chlorophyll for photosynthesis as the chloroplasts absorb the light to make food
What does the permanent vacuole do?
Contains cell sap , which keeps the cell rigid and helps to support the plant
