why would vaginal delivery be contraindicated in placenta previa?
catastrophic bleeding could occur due to disruption of blood vessels as cervix dilates
Why is patient at risk for placenta accreta with multiple prior c sections?
scar tissue from previous surgery prevents proper implantation of the placenta, so it subsequently grows into the myometrium
what is vasa previa?
rare condition where umbilical cord inserts into the membranes and the exposed vessels are over the cervix
What are common presenting signs of placental abruption?
abdominal pain, bleeding, uterine hypertonus, and fetal distress
What are risk factors for placental abruption?
smoking, cocaine use, chronic hypertension, trauma, prolonged rupture of membranes and history of prior abruption
What is in Cryoprecipitate?
fibrinogen, von Willebrands, Factor VIII, and XIII, and fibronectin
