What is nature?
the influence of innate/ inherited feature on development.
What is nature based on ?
The assumptions that children are genetically pre-programmed. They have inherited skills, abilities and behaviour from their parents.
What is nurture?
The influence of the environment and nurturing
What is nurture based on ?
The assumption that characteristics are acquired and can be shaped through experiences.
How does nature and nurture link?
Piaget accepted that children develop in a predestined way(stages of cognitive development), but believed experiences help them to develop new concepts.
How can genetic predisposition(nature) link to nurture?
An individual’s genetic predisposition can be triggered by their environment and life experiences(nurture).
