A

SCs demanded that the people be allowed to rise against their enemies and demanded retribution on the military general who had betrayed the people’s trust

A

a decree for a Levee en masse proposed by Barere that all men without immediate dependents were to give military service, and all resources to be directed to the war effort

A
  • there was a need for supplies so they created a commission of technicians and scientists to carry those dispatched from the war
  • new manufacturing process to increase the supply of gunpowder and factories and workshops around the country were issued manuals to make steel
    material was being requisitioned, foodstuffs and animals re-allocate and military recruitment and training stepped up

A

Carnot and Saint-Just wanted to replace old aristrocrat generals with new younger commanders committed to the Revolution. they promoted Jourdanm, Hoche and Pichegru as commanders of the Armies

A

why was there a coming of the terror

A
  • the moderate faction of the NC had collapsed and allowed the Jacobins more specifically Robespierre to dominate the government
  • The executive was put in a weakened position because if 2/3 of the CPS agreed to a law they had to put in place
  • from September a clique of dominant members Robespireere, Saint-Just, Couthon and Carnoot

why were the SCs angry

A
  • grain shortages and unemployment meant there were constant rioting in the capital
  • the death of Marat by Corday caused the SCs to demand that all suspects to be arrest

SCs marched on NC demanding lower bread prices, higher wages and attacks on those oppressing the people.- NC promised action against grain hoarders and counter-revolutionaries. Varenne and Herbois joined CPS
