Bohemia and Moravia (Czech regions) went under the control of Germany.
-Slovakia remained independent, in theory, but was mainly under the control of Germany.
-Ruthenia was given to Hungary.
Why did Appeasement come to an end?
- Britain and France realised that Hitler’s promises at the Munich Agreement were worthless.
- Britain and France began rearming at a more rapid rate after they accepted that appeasement had failed to prevent German aggression.

Why did Britain and France think USSR would be a useful ally?
Britain and France were too far away to offer immediate protection to Poland if Germany suddenly invaded. The USSR was situated right next to Poland, so if Germany invaded Poland, the USSR would be able to protect it.
Why was the USSR mistrusting towards Britain?
Britain and France hadn’t been particularly close to Russia during Hitler’s rise to power. USSR hadn’t been invited to the Munich Agreement. USSR felt that Britain had been directing Hitler towards the East by defending Europe.
