Why did Austria-Hungary feel threatened by Serbia?

A

Austria-Hungary felt threatened by Serbian Nationalism in the years after 1900.
Austria-Hungary feared that the population of Serbs living within the Austro-Hungarian Empire would leave and go to live in the Greater Serbia state, thus resulting in the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

A

Austria-Hungary took the refusal as an excuse to go to war with Serbia. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia on the 28th July 1914, a month after Franz Ferdinand was shot.
