What are the 4 components of blood?
A
plasma red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.

What does plasma do?
A
transports blood cells and chemicals around the body

What do red blood cells do?
A
Carry oxygen to the body cells. They have haemoglobin which is the pigment that binds to oxygen. They have no nucleus which creates space for the haemoglobin. They are also biconcave which increases the surface area.

What do white blood cells do?
A
protect the body against infection. They have a nucleus.

What do platelets do?
A
fragments of cells which helps the blood clot. This prevents blood loss and create scabs to stop bacteria from entering through the wounds.
