Q

coronary heart disease

A

coronary arteries supply the heart with oxygen and glucose. These can become narrow, usually due to fatty deposit lining the walls. This causes coronary, heart disease, coronary heart disease, restricts blood flow to the heart, which means less oxygen is being supplied, which can cause pain and even heart attacks.

Q

CHD Treatment

A

stents-mess tubes that squash down the fatty deposit and open up the artery. Can cause clotting.

Statirs- a drug that lowers blood cholesterol levels slowing the buildup of fatty deposit. Won’t unblock so normally used for people at risk. Need to remember to take the tablet.

Q

Heart failure treatment

A

artificial heart- used to keep the patient alive, whilst waiting for a doughnut, less likely to reject and prolongs life can cause the blood to clot. A lot of machinery involved.
Natural heart- works much better much lower risk of clotting can live a more normal life risk of rejection
