What does noncommunicable mean?
Diseases that aren’t infections, cannot be passed from person to person. Make up 71% of deaths linked to disease
What causes non communicable disease
lifestyle choices or substances in the persons body or environment.
5 examples of non communicable diseases.
cardiovascular disease- diet, smoking, exercise
Type II diabetes- obesity,
Liver & brain damage- alcohol,
Lung disease & cancer- smoking Damage to foetus- smoking and alcohol 
What is cancer
cancer occurs when changes in the cell cause abnormal or uncontrolled cell growth and division. This can lead to the formation of tumours.
What are begnign tumours
tumours that affect one area of the body and don’t spread, they can put pressure on organs 
What are malignant tumours
tumours that have small parts that can break off and spread in the blood. They can cause secondary tumours. They are difficult to treat. 
Cancer treatment
radiotherapy- uses radiation to kill cancer cells
chemotherapy- the use of chemicals to halt mitosis in rapidly dividing cells
