Q

The immune system

A

Phagocytosis- this is when a white blood cell engulfs, a pathogen and digests it, destroying it
antibody production-pathogens have antigens on their surfaces. Some white blood cells can make antibodies these attach to the antigens and label the pathogen for destruction.
antitoxin production, anti-toxins can counteract or neutralise the toxins released by pathogens
Vaccinations a small amount of dead or inactive pathogen is put into the body. The white blood cells detect the antigens of the pathogen, and begin, producing the correct antibodies. If the real pathogen enters, the body than the white blood cells can produce the antibodies, much quicker and the pathogen is destroyed, quickly
