led ny head of “COPS” (Robespierre) they wanted to unish against revolution, sepcificaly members of nobility. However violence spiraled out of control, and many died.

3) Peninsular War: France invaded spain and tried to punish portugal, but lead to 5-year conflict w/ spain.
4) Invasion of Russia: 95% of the french troops would die in freexing weather in a rejected atempt to conquer russia.

- leaders wanted a balance of power to scure peace in europe. France got OG land borders back.
Holy alliance was set up to stamp out any future revolution activity across europe.
