Cane Ridge demonstrations by Peter Cartwright. It was predominantly by women, it also involved Blacks and Indians
Corrupt Bargain
A political scandal that arose when the Speaker of the House, Henry Clay, allegedly met with John Quincy Adams before the House election to break a deadlock. Adams was elected president against the popular vote and Clay was named Secretary of State.
Tariff of Abominations
In reaction of Massachusetts and Rhode Island woolen manufactures complaining about cheap British textiles. In order to please the west and south, other items were placed under the tariff

Jackson’s unofficial cabinet. Included VB and Democratic newspaper editors Isaac Hill and Francis P. Blair
Maysville Road
1830 - The Maysville Road Bill proposed building a road in Kentucky (Clay’s state) at federal expense. Jackson vetoed it because he didn’t like Clay, and Martin Van Buren pointed out that New York and Pennsylvania paid for their transportation improvements with state money. Applied strict interpretation of the Constitution by saying that the federal government could not pay for internal improvements.

Force Bill
Allowed Jackson to use militia to force SC to pay tariffs and ended nullification crisis.
Nicholas Biddle
President of the bank and applied for recharter in 1832 b/c Clay wanted it to an issue in the coming election. Passed in both houses but Jackson vetoes it. He begins to put gov’t funds into pet/wildcat banks. This ‘kills’ the BANK. Jackson is censured (1st)
