AKA incubation period.

The ability of a a pathogenic virus to lie dormant within a cell, denoted as the lysogenic part of the viral life cycle.

Infectious diseases that are easily transmitted by physical contact by the animal suffering from the disease or by their secretions or objects touched by them.

A disease that generally required a specific mode of transport between hosts.
What is meant by virulence?
Degree of pathogenicity of a disease and the ability of the organism to invade the tissues of a host.

The cause or origin of an infectious disease.
What is the pathogenesis of a disease?
The mechanism by which the disease is caused.
What is epidemiology?
The environment, pathogenic agent and the host of an infectious disease.
Define zoonoses?
A disease that is transmissible from animals to man.
What is the prevalence of a disease?
The proportion of a population that experiences the disease during a given period.
What in incidence of a disease?
The measure of new cases arising in a population over a given period to a disease.
