A
Haemophilus parasuis (Hps)
Of which 15 different types have been recognised

A
Sows: Rare
Gilts: Occasional
Piglets: Acute
Weaners/ Growing: Acute or Chronic

What clinical signs occur in acute glassers disease?
A
- Pneumonia
- Lameness
- Coughing
- Heart infections

What clinical signs can occur in chronic glassers disease?
A
- Fever
- Swollen joints
- Neurological- szeisures, meningitis
- Stunted growth

A
- Clinical observations
- Isolation of Hps
- PM

A
- Vit E def.
- Mullbery heart disease
- Arthritis

What treatment is used for glassers disease?
A
-Antibiotics- Penicilin G (2-3days)

What prophylaxis is in place for glassers disease?
A
- Medicated water (4-5days)
- Vaccinated (IM from 5 wks old)
- Good heard management
