What is CODD?
A
A recently found infection (Davies et al 1999) that results in lameness in sheep.
In 2007 accounted for 25% of lameness in GB and in 2008 it was only identified in UK alone (Winter 2008).

What causes CODD?
A
Not fully known, but found that Treponema (Spirochetes) may be associated. Moore et al (2005) found it was apparent in 70% of cases.

What are the signs of CODD?
A
Small ulcerated area which appears at the top of the hoof at the conorary band. This spreads down the toe and in severe cases the whole horn can fall off.
-Grey, pasty scum and some blood with no significat smell.

What can be used to treat CODD?
A
No single treatment
- Injectible antibiotics
- Ab footbaths
