Tarsus Flashcards
Which portion of the collateral ligaments of the tarsus are parially relaxed while weight baring?
Short - in flexion they are under tension
Where to the short lateral and medial collateral ligaments of the tarsus insert?
Talus and calcaneus. spesifically for the medial side it inserts on the proximal tubercle of the talus and the sustenaculum tali.
Which part of the collateral ligament is more likely to be involved with a lateral maleolar fracture?
Short
Long plantar ligament inserts on?
Fourth tarsal and fourth metatarsal bones.
A curb is caused by injury to the?
Long plantar ligament or the SDFT
What is the arangement of the peroneus tertius and the tibialis cranialis in the distal tibial/ tarsal region?
Proximally the petoneus tertius is more dorsal, it then splits to allow the tibialis cranialsly to extnd distally. The tibialis cranialis inserts on MT3 but also gives ries to the cunean tendon medially. The peroneus tertius now plantar to the tibialic cranialis inserts on the dorsomedial aspect of MT3 via is metatarsal branch and the additional branc from it split goes laterally to the tarsal bones and is called the tarsal (quartal) branch.
Where are the DIT and the TMT most easily assessed?
DIT - dorsomedial
TMT - plantar lateral - where you sample it
With what frequency do the calcaneal bursae communicate?
Gastroc and intertendinous 100%
intertendinous and subcutaneous 40%
What is happening at this distal tibial physis in image b?
physitis - causes widening.
