Q

What is the typical sonographic appearance of a horse with nephritis?

A

Q

This horse had increase echogenic free fluid in the abdomen and diffuse jejunal wall thickening. What do you suspect?

A

Peritonitis and small intestinal wall thickening secondary to the intra-abdominal inflammatory response. This can also happen to the colon.

17
Q

What is shown in this abdominal US image?

A

Fibrinous peritonitis.

18
Q

With internal, abdominal abscesses which pathogen should be suspected.

A

Rhodococcus equi.
