What is acquired syphilis ?
A
T pallidum enters via body fluids
- cuts
- sexual contact
- contaminated needles
- direct contact

What is congenital syphilis ?
A
T pallidum infects baby in uterus or when exiting through vagina

Features of primary syphilis ?
A
- 1-3 weeks after t pallidium lands on skin or mucous membrane
- painless ulcer
( raised border , hard base , fluid rich in spirochetes )
( resolves spontaneously within 3-6 weeks )
