- What is endometrial hyperplasia ?

Abnormal thinking of the uterine lining
Caused by proliferation of endometrial glands due to estrogen stimulation

Causes of endometrial hyperplasia?
A
Increase in estrogen leads to :
Proliferation of the endometrium due to :
-PCOS
- granulosa cell tumor
- hormone replacement therapy
- obesity
- tamoxifen therapy

Clinical features?
A
Vaginal bleeding

Diagnosis?
A
Ultrasound to assess endometrial thickness

Treatment of endometrial hyperplasia with atypia and doesn’t want to conceive
A
Total hysterectomy with or without salpingoophractomy

Treatment of endometrial hyperplasia with atypia but wants to conceive
A
Progesterone therapy + close surveillance

Treatment of endometrial hyperplasia without atypia?
A
Progestin therapy
But in PCOS women : hormonal contraceptives
