Tell me about the Retrofitting homes for energy efficiency?
- Steps towards a net zero carbon targets.
- The products are built in factories.
- A retrofit home must be 21 degrees C all year with 40 minutes of hot water a day.
- A Dutch firm has shown that on-site works can be completed in 10 – 15 days.
- A five-home pilot scheme has been carried out in Maldon.
- The local planning authority requires a street scene to be maintained.
- The pilot scheme showed that for the energy improvements it can be expensive to heat.
- The aim is for these types of homes to have an EPC rating of A.
• What is MEES?
- MEES is the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.
• How does MEES affect the rental market?
No properties should be let with a higher rating than E from 1st April 2018.
