• What are the benefits and problems of using a laser measure?
A laser measure is quick to use.
Not always good for measuring outside.
Limited for long distances like say a 100/200 m garden.
• How might you go about calibrating a laser measure?
- On my disto you take an area which is measured using a tape measure and then record 10 measurements.
- Add these measurements to the DISTO spreadsheet which then calculates the Accuracy of your model.
• What are the potential problems with a measuring tape?
- Slower to record.
- Can’t find a fixed position to secure it to.
• What are the new standards of measurement?
IPMS (International Property Measurement Standards)

IPMS 3A = GEA.
IPMS 3B = GIA
IPMS 3C = NIA
