The carbon produced from: Mining Farming Mileage Distribution Deforestation.
What are the 6 Rs?
Reduce Reuse Recycle Repair Rethink Refuse.
What is the use of the 6 Rs?
To build a sustainable future and not damage the environment.
It can motivate consumers to purchase as they do not want to harm the planet.
What is Repair?
Products could be made repairable.
Although it does cost more to manufacture, it can be made so products can easily be fixed and updated. Some easier than others.
What is Reuse?
Products can be reused.
This means that they can be dismantled and reused without having to be melted and reshaped.
What is Refuse?
Products should only be designed if there is a need for the product
Can the product be made with more environmentally friendly material.
Eg. reusable waterbottles.
What is Reduce?
Products being made with the least amount of parts but still function as intended.
The amount of energy needed to make design should be taken into account.
What is Rethink?
There should be a demand for the product.
Therefore, it can be recycled and last longer.
What is Recycle?
The product can be dismantled and recycled to be melted down and into a new product.
Examples of environmental modernism?
Older cars emit larger amount of pollution so some environmentalist groups think they should be replaced with electric cars.
eg. car with catalyctic converter converter to cleanse gas from car.
