Q

What is the difference between speed, velocity, and acceleration?

A

Speed is the distance traveled in a certain time. Velocity is the distance traveled in a certain time in a certain direction. Acceleration is the rate at which an objects velocity increases.

Q

What do you do to find the final speed if you are given the acceleration.

A

If you know what the initial speed is, you can plug the equation in and try to guess and check for the missing variable. (final speed)

Q

What is Newton’s first law? Provide an example:

A

An object that isn’t moving will stay still, while a moving object will stay moving unless there’s an unbalanced force. An example is a car that is coming down a hill and hits a stationary car.

Q

What is Newton’s second law? Provide an example anf the formula:

A

The smaller the mass, the greater the acceleration when a force is applied. The greater the force there is on an object, the greater the acceleration. Formula=ma (mass Xacceleration) An example is the wheels on your car creating friction against

Q

What is Newton’s third law? Provide an example:

A

For every action, there is an equal opposite reaction. An example of this is a rocket that takes off. The fuel from the rocket is pushing downward, causing the rocket to go upwards into space.
