Flowers; Photosynthesis and Respiration Flashcards
Define the term photosynthesis?
The process that plants undergo to make their own food, using sunlight.
What parts of the plant are involved in photosynthesis?
The plants leaves, the chlorophyll, and the chloroplasts.
What things need to be present in order for photosynthesis to occur?
Water, carbon dioxide, sunlight, chlorophyll, and chloroplasts.
What are the products/results of photosynthesis? (what is produced/made?)
Glucose and oxygen are made from the organic compound.
Write the chemical equation for photosynthesis
6CO2 + 6H2O ——> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Sunlight energy
Define the term respiration:
The process in which living organisms breath in oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
What parts of the cell are involved in respiration?
The cytoplasm and mitochondria
What things need to be present in order for respiration to occur (What are the ingredients of this process)?
Oxygen and glucose
