Q

How do organisms grow and get bigger?

A

More cells are produced within an organism which causes it to grow larger over time. Also, as more cells are produced, the cells are also able to grow larger over time.

Q

Do all organisms on Earth have the same number of chromosomes? If not, do all organisms within the same species have the same amount of chromosomes?

A

-Not every organism has the same number of chromosomes. However, every organism with a specific species will have the same amount of chromosomes. (ex. Humans)

Q

What are Centrioles?

A

Structures that develop in animal cells during prophase, which move towards the ends of the cell and act as anchors for the spindle fibers.

Q

What are the differences between cytokinesis in the plant cells versus animal cells?

A

-The main difference is that in plant cells, a cell plate forms during cytokinesis whereas in animal cells there is just a furrow (cleavage) that pinches the cell in half. -Instead of a cell plate, animal cells develop a contractile ring. -In animal cells, the spindle degenerates. -In plant cells, the vesicles form a cell plate by fusing together. -Animal cells develop a mid-body.
