A

90% of those who attempt are suffering from a psychological disorder

50% of those are clinically depressed at the time of attempt

5-7% of ppl diagnosed with BPD die from suicide

However, overwhelming majority of ppl with psychological disorders don’t die by suicide

  2. removing the stigma- normalising the experience of distress and destigmatise help seeking
  3. Public awareness- increase public knowledge of suicide and warning signs
  4. gatekeeper training-GPS first line of defence- train individuals to recognise signs and make referrals ]
  5. improve access to mental health screening and risk assessment
