What is intransitive verb?
doesn’t require a direct object to indicate the person or thing acted upon.
Ex. verb “yawn” is intransitive because it’s not possible to “yawn” something.
What is transitive verb?
must take a direct object.
Ex. Paul is leaving.
what are linking verbs?
verbs that can connect ideas to one another.
Ex. “It is sunny out”
what are passive verbs?
The subject is being acted upon.
Ex. Computers are shipped to many foreign countries
What are the Verb tenses?
- Past
- Present
- Future.
What is past verb tense?
function is to place an action or situation in the past.
Ex. went and washed.
What are present tense ?
indicates an action that is currently taking place when you speak or write, or an action that occurs regularly.
Ex. She enjoys playing the piano.
What are future tense?
marks the event described by the verb as not having happened yet, but expected to happen in the future.
Ex. I will learn a new language.

What is indicative?
Most common
used to communicate a fact, opinion or statement.
Ex. Dolphins ARE great swimmer.
What are subjunctive?
it doesn’t describe any particular tense like the past or the present.
Ex. changing the word ‘was’ to ‘were’
What are imperative ?
that tells us to do something
Ex. ADD the flour to the bowl.
What is direct object?
receives the action of a verb
What is indirect object?
receives the action of the direct object, answering the questions.
What are coumpound verbs?
composed of more than one word, or two or more verbs that share a single subject.
Ex. to be

What is declaritive sentence?
used to communicate a fact, an opinion, an observation, or an explanation.
Ex. Bears don’t eat when they hibernate.
What is Interrogative sentences?
These sentences request more information in the form of answers, usually to confirm something or fill in missing information.
Ex. What is your next class?
What are Imperative sentences
are commands, instructions, or advice you give to others to tell them what to do.
Ex. Don’t hang up!
What are Exclamatory sentences
like declarative sentences, except with more emotion or urgency.
Ex. Yikes! That’s a giant spider!
What is Parelelism?
which similar or repeated words, phrases, clauses, or sentence structure appear.
