What is CAESURA?
A pause in mid-verse
What is Hegel’s theory of tragedy?
Tragedy as a dynamic conflict of opposite forces or rights.
Ex. That fighting in wars is morally wrong
What is first person ?
Let’s narrators express inner feelings and thoughts.
Ex. I/we
What is second person?
a set of words or forms (such as pronouns or verb forms) that refer to the person that the speaker or writer is addressing.
It is least used form of narrative voice in literary.
Ex. You
What is third person?
a set of words or forms (such as pronouns or verb forms) that refer to people or things that the speaker or writer is not addressing directly
Ex. He/she/it/ they
How many types of irony are there?
- Verbal Irony

What is verbal irony?
Uses words opposite to the meaning.
ex. Sarcasm
What is situational irony?
What happens contrast with what was expected
What is dramatic irony?
Narrative informs audience of more than its characters know.
Ex. The audience is made aware that Juliet is only asleep, while Romeo believes her to be dead, which then leads to Romeo’s death
What is a villanelle?
A 19 line poem composed of five tercets and one quatrain. 2 repeating lines throughout.

What is anagnorisis?
Meaning tragic insight or recognition, this is a momement of realization by a tragic hero
What is hamartia?
Described as a tragic error. Often used as a metaphor for a mistake. Often a single one which results in catastrophe.
What is hubris?
Signifies an arrogant overstepping of moral or cultural bounds.
What is nemesis?
Represents the cosmic punishment or payback that the tragic hero ultimately receives for committing hunristic acts
