What is phonology?
The study of patterns of sounds in a language.
What is morphology?
The study of words and their parts. Such as suffixes, prefixes and root words.
What are syntax?
The formation of sentences and associated grammatical rules. It helps us understand how sentences work.
What are semantics?
The study of how meaning is created by words.
What is pragmatics?
Studies language that is not directly spoken. Such as a speaker hinting towards something.
What is parallel-forms of reliability ?
Assesses the consistency of the results of two tests constructed in the same way from the same content domain
What are the 4 levels of ELL?

What are the substages of the sensorimotor stage?
- Reflexes

0-1 months, the child understands the environment purely through inborn reflexes such as sucking and looking
What are primary circular reactions?
1-4 months. Begin to coordinate their physical senses and represent elements of reality.
What are secondary circular reactions?
4-8 months. Repeat rewarding actions
What are coordination of reaction?
8-12 months. Develop object permanence
What is tertiary circular reactions?
12-18 months. Experimenting through trial and error.
What are early representational thoughts?
18-24 months. Begin understanding the world through mental operations instead of actions
