Characteristics of literary texts and informational texts
Literary texts: creative language, focusing on characters, plot, setting, and themes to evoke emotions and engage the reader
informational texts: factual information, using clear structure and features like headings, visuals, and data
3 levels of comprehension
literal: Understanding the facts, ideas, and vocabulary in a text
inferential: Making inferences from the facts and information in a text
evaluative: Analyzing and weighing an event or an author’s intent, opinion, language, and style
Norm vs criterion reference
Norm-referenced tests compare a student’s performance to other students
criterion-referenced tests compare a student’s performance to a predetermined standard
