Definition: Dispatch staff?
Anyone on platform with a responsibility for train dispatch but not the one in charge of it.
Definition: Permissive Working?
Allowing one or more trains in to an already occupied section of line, usually a platform.
Definition: Person in charge of Dispatch?
The station staff who gives the signals to the guard or driver.
Definition: Platform staff?
Anyone working on the platform responsible for the safety of the public or staff. may or may not be involved in train dispatch.
Definition: Rolling stock technician?
competent person who is authorised to examine or repair a train or vehicle.
Definition: Unstaffed platform?
A platform where no dispatch staff are present.
If you see defective driver only [DO] equipment, eg platform monitoring screen or mirror, what do you need to do?
Tell the signaller at first opportunity

Nothing, signaller knows and repairs are being carried out.

- Get permission from signaller to move towards signal at danger
- Tell Guard or person in charge of dispatch you have permission
- Tell Signaller when movement complete

Ignoring caveats can you move a train once it has come to a stop when permissive working?
No, once it has stopped you cannot move it again without authority, other than coupling and uncoupling.

If signaller has authorised you to move your train again what must you always do at the end of the movement?
Tell the signaller the movemetn is complete.
If your train has been in maintenance or repaired, before you move it you must? [3 items]
- Check work is complete
- No ‘not to be moved board’ is in place
- All vehicles are fit for travel
When can you open the train doors?
Only when safe to do so and the train is at a complete stop.
You must not let anyone out of a moving train.
Before setting off from a station/platform you must check one of three things are applies, they are?
- Platform signal, banner repeater or OFF indicator is showing proceed.
- MA recieved
- Siganller permits a SPAD or movment past an EoA without an MA
If you receive a ready to start signal but the platform signal is at danger what would you do?
Not going anywhere until authorised by the signal or signaller.
