management of recurrent staphylococcal skin infection (8)
A
- identify any treat predisposing cause like lymphoedema, venous stasis or diabetes
- prophylactic antibiotics to suppress
decolonisation therapy once lesions gone
- collect nasal, perineal swabs
- intranasal mupirocin ointment for 5 days
- chlorhex 2% / triclosan 1% wash for 5 days
- wash bed linen weekly
- wash towels daily, dry in sunlight
decolonise household contacts if initial trial fails
