ST1. Cell Structure N5 (CB) Flashcards
What is in a plant cell?
Nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, mitochondria, chloroplasts, cell wall and vacuole
What is in an animal cell?
Nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes and mitochondria
What is in a fungal cell?
Nucleus, cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, mitchondria, cell wall and vacuole
What is in a bacterial cell?
Cell membrane, cytoplasm, ribosomes, cell wall and plasmids
What does a nucleus do?
Controls cell activities
What is the purpose of the cell membrane?
Controls entry and exit of molecules
What is the cytoplasm?
Site of chemical reactions
What are ribosomes?
Site of protein synthesis
What are mitochondria?
Site of aerobic respiration
What are chloroplasts?
Site of photosynthesis
What does the vacuole store?
Water, sugar and salts in a solution called cell sap
What does the cell wall do?
Gives the cell a rigid structure
What is the cell wall made of?
Cellulose in plant cells but different materials in fungal and bacterial cells
What do plasmids contain?
Additional genes which are beneficial to the cell
