external obliques
bilaterally compresses abdomen, flexes the spine, unilaterally laterally flexes the trunk to the same side, rotates the trunk to opposite side
internal oblique
spine flexion, unilaterally laterally flexes spine and rotates the spine to the same side
rectus abdominus
flexes vertebral column, flexes abdominal wall, abdomen flexion
rotatores
rotation of thoracic spine, spine extension, contralateral ration of the head (opposite side to turn of flexed muscle)
multifidus
stabilization of vertebrae in local movements of vertebral column, thoracic spine rotation, neck and spine extension
erector spinae
spinalis, longissimus, iliocostalis. all muscles perform spine extension
quadratus lumborum
depresses 12th rib, unilaterally raises pelvis, hip hiking muscle, spine stabilizer
sternocleidomastoid
neck flexion, neck lateral flexion, neck extension, contralateral rotation of the head (turning away from the side that the muscle flexes)
splenius capitus
neck and spine extension and lateral rotation, ipsilateral rotation of the had (Turning towards the side that the muscle flexes)
suboccipital
neck extension
