A

external ear: color, swelling, cuts, bruises, tenderness w/ out or w/ pulling

Internal ear: otoscope= ear canal, tympanic membrane: tenderness, bleeding, discharge, wax build up, foreign bodies, drainage, retracted or bulging or red membrane

otitis externa

A

S/S: redness, tenderness, inflammation, discoloration of beginning of ear canal, common in water sports

Tx: OTC ear drops w acid to dry out ear, refer if symptoms get worse

A

S/S: redness, drainage, ear ache, fever, dizziness, tinnitus, HA, diminished hearing, fluid buildup

Tx: refer to PCP for antibodies

A

S/S: blunt trauma, high pressure, infection, fluid or blood drainage

Tx: keep ear dry, OTC pain relief, refer to PCP
