13
Q

where do the different neurones in asc spinal tracts synspase/change

A

1st order to 2nd at grey matter of spinal cord or nucleus in medulla

14
Q

posterior/dorsal column route

A

1st ON ends by synapsing w cell body on 2nd ON in lower part medulla

2nd ON desuccates in medulla (tract is now medial lemniscus) and passes theough medulla, pons and midbrain to thalamus

3rd ON starts from thalamus and axons pass through IC and radiate to post central gyrus (area 2,1,3)

15
Q

lateral spinothalamic tract route

A

1st ON enters into grey matter and ends at same level

2nd ON crosses over to reach lateral column and is now laeral spinpthalamic tract

2nd ON ends in thalamus and 3rd ON passes through IC, radiation to reach post-central gyrus

16
Q

where does decussation occur lateral spinothalamic tract

A

level of entry

17
Q

relfex

A

involuntary stereotyped pattern of response brought about by sensory stimulus

many are mediated at level of spinal cord (spinal reflexes)

18
Q

corticospinal tract: UMN lesion above decussation

A

contraleteral spastic paralysis

hyperreflexia

19
Q

corticospinal tract: UMN lesion below decussation

A

ipsilateral spastic paralysis and hyperreflexia

20
Q

corticospinal tract: LMN lesion

A

ispsilateral flaccid paralysis

arreflexia

21
Q

posterior/dorsal column: lesion above decussation

A

contralateral sensory loss

22
Q

posterior/dorsal column: lesion below decussation

A

ipsilateral sensory loss

23
Q

lateral spinothalamic tract: lesion above decussation

A

pain and temp sensation lost on oposite side
