Somatic symptom disorder
When the patient thinks they have a bunch of symptoms.
Illness anxiety disorder
Patient has anxiety about having or acquiring a serious illness. Different from somatization disorder because they don’t have serious somatic symptoms.
Conversion disorder
Physical symptoms suggesting neurological problems (sensory impairment or paresthesia or paralysis).
Rapid onset, sudden termination, sudden reappearance.
Most common in women and men in combat
Malingering
Intentional production of physical or physiological signs or symptoms WITH external incentives (avoiding work, pain meds ect)
Factitious disorder (Munchausen’s)
Intentional production of physical or psychological signs and symptoms WITHOUT external incentives

Patient distressed by their symptoms
How do you treat personality disorders?
Can only treat symptoms, so it depends on the symptoms

Mood stabalizer
