Confined Space Rescue - Scope
*Any incident where rescue personnel must enter and retrieve a victim who is located in a confined space
Confined Space Rescue - Definition
*Area large enough to enter to work
*Limited or restricted means of entry/exit
*Not designated for continuous occupancy use
Confined Space Rescue - Permit required definition
*Meets confined space definition and contains one of the following
—Contains or has potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere
—Contains a material that has the potential for engulfing an entrant
—Has internal configuration such that entrant could be trapped or asphyxiated by inward converging walls or a floor that slopes downward and tapers to a smaller cross-section
*Contains any other recognized serious safety or health hazard

Confined Space Rescue - Position/Description IC
*Overall management of incident
*Determines incident objectives and priorities
*Orders and assigns resources
*Supports efforts of the Rescue Group Supervisor, other group supervisors
Confined Space Rescue - Position/Description - Rescue Group Supervisor
*Position needs to be filled by a Confined Space Rescue Technician
*Reports direct to IC
*Develops/implements tactical ops
*Supervises all personnel assigned to RGS
* Utilizes Confined Space Entry Permit as a tactical worksheet
*Coordinates with Medical Group Supervisor and Haz Mat Supervisor
Confined Space Rescue - Position/Description - Attendant
*Position needs to be filled by a Confined Space Rescue Technician
*Reports directly to the RGS
*Liaison between the RGS and Entry Team and Backup Team
*Responsible for accountability of all Entry personnel
*Documents entry/exit times and air pressure for Entry personnel on Entry Log
*Monitors and logs atmospheric conditions in and around the entry point

*Interviews RP and obtains permit / plans / MSDS / blueprints
*Isolate, deny entry, and evacuate
* 50-foot exclusion zone and a 150-foot perimeter
*Monitor the atmosphere in and around the confined space
*ID victim location and verbal contact
*Consider ventilation ASAP
*Initiate lock/tag out to all energy sources
